March 15-19: Aging in America

I’ll be talking about The Hard Times Guide to Retirement Security at several sessions of the Aging in America conference in Chicago this month. This is the annual conference of the National Council on Aging and the American Society on Aging, and it’s the largest gathering of multidisciplinary professionals from the fields of aging, healthcare and education.

Monday March 15th: Entrepreneurship & New Career Opportunities within the Boomer Market

This boot camp is part of the What’s Next Boomer Business Summit. I’ll be talking about the current employment landscape for 50+ workers, job-hunting strategies and what it takes to start your own 50+ entrepreneurial venture. Co-presenters include A.D. Frazier, co-founder of BOTH; Beth Sanders, Founder & CEO of LifeBio.com; Mark Willaman, Founder & President, SeniorCareMarketer.com; and Jeff Williams, CEO of Bizstarters.com.

Wednesday March 17th: The Business Forum on Aging

Health and Wealth for New Times: Challenges and issues for the Transition Years. I’ll be chairing a panel that also will feature Sandy Timmerman, Director of the Metlife Mature Market Institute and Christine Benz, director of personal finance, Morningstar.

Friday March 19th: What’s Next Boomer Business Summit

Entrepreneurship and Partnering. This session will look at case histories of successful entrepreneurs. They’ll be talking about what inspired them to start businesses, and how partnerships have contributed to their success.

Financing Your Life. In the wake of the financial rollercoaster of the past two years, the net worth of many boomers is tied into their homes. Zillow.com’s Chief Economist Dr. Stan Humphries will talk about where boomers are moving, what kind of housing they are buying, and what factors are influencing their purchasing and relocation decisions. Other panelists joining me include Marty Bel of theĀ  National Aging in Place Council and Linda Hollinger-Smith, Ph.D., Vice President, Mather Lifeways Institute on Aging.
